Round 3 (From NE): Terry Beckner Jr, DT – Missouri – 6-4, 305 lbs. (Listed)

  • 20 solo tackles (3.4 percent), 11 tackles for loss (10.6 percent), 7 sacks (21.2 percent) this past season.

Coming out of high school, Terry Beckner was one of the top recruits in the country. Unfortunately for Beckner, he suffered a knee injury in each of his first two seasons at Missouri that forced him to miss time, have surgery and rehab. A torn MCL as a freshman in his right knee and then his ACL and MCL as a sophomore.

This past season, Beckner was healthy for a full season and showed why he was such a highly recruited player. He’s a problem with good strength and some speed. The medical is obviously going to be a factor in where Beckner ultimately ends up, but he could be a really talented role player and depth at the 3-tech.

His motor can hot and cold and perhaps, now that he’s finally healthy, he’ll be able to improve his stamina as he enters his senior year as well as his technique, particularly with pad level. When he’s right, he’s productive and can be stout as a run defender and get after the quarterback.
