Round 4: Carl Granderson, Edge – Wyoming – 6-5, 255 lbs. (Listed)

  • 37 solo tackles (6.4 percent), 16 tackles for loss (17.5 percent), 8.5 sacks (25.7 percent) this past season.

Despite consistently being told how Wyoming only had one player worth anything, the Cowboys have a couple players that could see themselves drafted in 2019 on the defensive side of the ball. Carl Granderson is a long, rangy defensive end with growth potential.

Granderson needs to continue adding strength to his frame, but he has the length that the Browns seem to want from their edge players. He’s got some speed and agility as a pass rusher and needs more raw power in his game, so with another year to add muscle, the hope is he’ll end up in the 260s at least.

Granderson is a player that can get in the backfield, has long arms and can deflect and even intercept passes. He’s really raw in terms of technique and has a lot to learn from that end, but he was still very productive as a junior.

It’ll be interesting to see how Granderson improves as a senior as he could end up much higher if he continues to add to his game and add strength, but he’s got some intriguing ability as a developmental, depth edge rusher for the NFL.
