The New York Jets are on the verge of something big in 2018. They have a chance to dethrone the AFC East champs, and become champs themselves.
It’s been a long time coming for the New York Jets. In fact, in 2002, they won their fourth division title in franchise history (two in the AFL and two in the AFC). So, the Jets are due to finally break end the stranglehold the Patriots have had on the AFC East since 2009.
The Patriots have won 13 AFC East titles in this century. In fact, you have to go back to the year 2000 to find a year in which the AFC East was won by someone other than the Patriots for a third consecutive season. So, why should 2018 be any different for the defending conference champions?
Time has to catch up to Tom Brady eventually. There will come a day when Father Time says, “Enough is enough, Tom,” and Brady has a bad season. No matter how unreasonable it may seem, that could be this year, and if it is the Jets have the right quarterback in place to take the reins.
