4. Orlando Scandrick, CB (from Dallas Cowboys)

After two seasons, the decision to ink one-time All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman to a lucrative five-year deal has produced mixed results. The former standout for the Carolina Panthers has played a total of 30 games for the Washington Redskins. He’s racked up 131 tackles, three interceptions, four forced fumbles and 28 passes defensed. But the team is still waiting for him to make a major difference and perform as he did during Carolina’s Super Bowl 50 showing in 2015.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of changes when it comes to the team’s cornerback spot. Former starter Bashaud Breeland is looking for work after signing with the Panthers this offseason and then failing a physical. Talented Kendall Fuller is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs as part of the deal that brought veteran quarterback Alex Smith to Washington. Yes, the team did invest a third-round selection on Fabian Moreau in 2017.

So after being cut loose by the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, cornerback Orlando Scandrick was quickly signed with the ‘Skins. He comes off a season in which he played in only 11 games, knocking down three passes and recording zero interceptions. And in 10 seasons with the ‘Boys, he actually has more sacks (11.5) than picks (8). But if he can stay healthy, he will certainly be an asset to a defensive unit that continues to struggle in many regards.
