New York Giants owner John Mara said there’s no sense of urgency for Odell Beckham Jr.’s new deal, and he’s right.

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be the NFL’s highest paid player.

The Giants are working on a new deal with the star wideout, but according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, the Giants are in no rush to sign him.

Giants owner John Mara told him this:

"“The contract will get done when it’s supposed to get done. I think that’s the Dave Gettleman line. I’m gonna adopt that, I think, all spring, all summer, as long as it takes.”"

The Giants should take their time and let the market settle itself. I know that Aaron Rodgers is a quarterback, but he’s the best one in the NFL, and the Packers haven’t inked him for an extension yet. If OBJ wants to be the highest paid player in the league, they’ll have to wait for that contract to be settled.

It’ll be highly unlikely for him to get quarterback money, but that doesn’t mean they should do a deal as soon as possible. They need something to work off of, and the Rodgers deal would be that.

The Giants and Beckham’s camp need to exercise patience. In due time, it will get done. He will likely be a Giant for a long time to come.

With Saquon Barkley now in the mix, the combination of him and OBJ will make this offense dangerous and difficult to stop. It now becomes a pick your poison offense for Giants opponents. If they stack the box, it leaves Beckham one-on-one. And if they don’t, they’ll get torched by Barkley.

Don’t hyperventilate Giants fans. OBJ will be here for the next Giants quarterback, and you may see them raise a fifth Lombardi Trophy in the near future.
