With the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the New York Jets selected Sam Darnold. There’s one question remaining in the offseason. When will he make his debut?

The quarterback has been a point of contention for the New York Jets for decades. They haven’t been able to find one who can be the franchise guy since the end of the Joe Namath era. Namath took his final snap for the Jets in 1976.

The Jets moved up in hopes of finally landing that franchise quarterback, and the stuff only dream are made of happened. Baker Mayfield went No. 1, and Saquon Barkley went No. 2. They won’t admit this publicly, but that means the Jets got the guy they wanted all along.

So, how will the quarterback room shake up now that they finally have their franchise quarterback? Let’s take a look.

3. Terrelle Pryor (emergency quarterback)

They do currently have Christian Hackenberg and Teddy Bridgewater on the roster. They both will be traded and/or cut by the end of training camp. Hackenberg probably will be cut, and if he’s 100 percent, Bridgewater still can hold trade value for the Jets.

If the Jets need to play their No. 3 quarterback due to injury, they’re probably in bad shape. So, essentially, it doesn’t matter if they have a third quarterback on the roster. Just in case, they have a player who isn’t a quarterback, but who’s played the position — even though he wasn’t successful — Terrelle Pryor. So, he will be there in case they need him to play.
