WR, Seth Roberts

After Day 1 of April’s draft, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reported the team intended to trade wideout Seth Roberts for a draft pick:

The transaction never occurred, which gives Roberts a little more time to work his way into the team’s future plans. Though, we can’t rule out a move before organized team activities or training camp.

The 27-year old turned an opportunity as an undrafted free agent into a role within the passing offense as an all-or-nothing asset on the field. When he scores, the Raiders have a 10-0 record over the past three seasons.

Gruden doesn’t have the time for nor care about coincidental statistics. Upon his return to Oakland, he’s looking for consistent playmakers. In the attempt, the front office upgraded the wide receiver corps via free agency, trades and the draft. Jordy Nelson, Martavis Bryant, Ryan Switzer and rookie Marcell Ateman join the group.

The moves at the position will likely squeeze Roberts out of a roster spot. Whether he’s traded or cut during the summer, there’s very little he can do to stay on the roster outside of completely dominating the competition during workouts. It’s also important for him to show his best to draw interest from other teams.
