Before Dallas Cowboys 2018 training camp is in the books, the final seconds will have ticked away on these five veterans’ stays in the Lone Star State.
We all know the NFL is a business — we see evidence of it every year. Difficult decisions must be made for one reason or another. The Dallas Cowboys are not immune to this, especially with the perpetually power-drunk Jerry Jones at the helm.
That’s why I’m expecting at least a few prominent veterans to be shown the door at some point during Cowboys 2018 training camp. For some, it’ll be due to an overall lack of talent. For others, it’ll be the abundance of competition at their position where there simply aren’t enough roster spots to go around.
Either way, Jones and the rest of Cowboys coaching staff are going to have to stomp on some NFL dreams to trim the roster down to the required 53 men. That’s just the way it is, even for established veterans.
Just to clarify, I consider any player who has at least two years (headed into their third year) of experience as a veteran. So if they entered the league in or before 2016, they’re a veteran in my book.
Glad we got that all figured out. Now let’s look at five veterans who I believe won’t survive Cowboys 2018 training camp. I could be wrong. Chances are, though, at least two or three of them will be handed their walking papers at some point in the coming months.
