Before Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 training camp is over, these five veterans will be handed their walking papers as part of the roster trimming process.

The cap-strapped Pittsburgh Steelers have had a quiet offseason, making a couple of significant upgrades to the roster before putting together a solid showing during the 2018 NFL Draft. However, with training camp still about two months away, the only thing we can do at this point is speculate.

That just so happens to be my plan for today. After combing over the Steelers’ current roster heading into offseason activities, I’ve pinpointed several veteran players who I believe simply aren’t in a position to survive. Whether that’s due to an overall lack of talent or too much competition at their respective positions, the odds don’t appear to be in their favor.

Now it may seem early to be worrying about this. However, I can assure you it isn’t. Before you know it, we’ll be well into August with the preseason under way and final cuts lingering just around the bend. These next three months are going to fly by — why not prepare yourself now?

Just to clarify, I consider any player who has at least two years (headed into their third year) of NFL experience as a veteran. So if they entered the league in or before 2016, they’re a veteran in my book.

Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s take a look at five veterans who I believe won’t survive Steelers 2018 training camp. For these players’ sake, I hope I’m wrong. Chances are, though, that at least two or three of them will be donning different jerseys in the near future.
