RB Fitzgerald Toussaint

Fitzgerald Toussaint made the most of the opportunities presented to him in the NFL. After catching on with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent, he made the move over to Pittsburgh and secured a roster spot as a third-string running back and special teams staple.

Although his work in the ground game has been underwhelming (3.3 yards per carry), Toussaint has done enough to stay in town for three years. Unfortunately, after the drafting of Jaylen Samuels a couple of weeks ago, it’s looking like his time with the Steelers may soon be ending.

There’s a very good chance the Steelers only keep three running backs in 2018. Le’Veon Bell obviously leads the pack as the featured back, and James Connor figures to stay in the No. 2 role for the time being. The presence of Samuels, a do-it-all offensive threat, figures to make Toussaint expendable.

If the Steelers do decide to keep four running backs, Toussaint should be the guy. However, based on the current roster and the need for depth on the defensive side of the ball, I think Pittsburgh opts to roll with Bell, Connor and Samuels in the backfield in 2018.
