1. Aqib Tailb, CB (from Denver Broncos)

This offseason, it was apparent that the Denver Broncos and veteran cornerback Aqib Talib would be going their separate ways. Thanks to various reports, the ball-hawking defensive back displayed a desire to be dealt to either one of two places. In particular, the 10-year defender showed a desire to play for either Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots or the Los Angeles Rams and defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

Talib has had his share of success with both of these longtime football coaches. In 2015, he was part of Phillips’ defense in the Mile High City that catapulted that club to a Super Bowl 50 championship. Originally a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 20th overall pick in the 2008 draft, he was dealt to New England during the 2012 season and remained there until he joined the Broncos in 2014.

The feisty Talib has quite the NFL resume. The five-time Pro Bowler has totaled 34 interceptions in 10 seasons and taken back 10 of those picks for scores. The only players in league history to top that latter total are Hall of Famer Rod Woodson (12), as well as Charles Woodson and Darren Sharper (11).

More importantly, he knows and understand Phillips’ defense and has excelled in it. And when you consider the improvements the Rams have made on the defensive front, it could be a big year for one of the more opportunistic cornerbacks to play the game.
