The offensive line of the Chicago Bears has been steady yet unspectacular in recent years. That is a polite way of saying that there is plenty of room for improvement when it comes to this group. Staying healthy would be a big plus as injuries have plagued this group lately. For instance, right guard Kyle Long has missed a total of 14 games the past two seasons combined.

This offseason, the team was in search of a reliable replacement for left guard Josh Sitton. The one-time member of the Rival Green Bay Packers spent the past two seasons in Chicago, starting a total of 25 games over that span and earning a Pro Bowl invitation in 2016. But he signed with the Miami Dolphins in March, meaning there is a bit of a hole on that Bears’ offensive front.

General manager Ryan Pace uses the first of the team’s two picks in the second round last month to grab University of Iowa center James Daniels. The plan is to convert the collegiate pivot to guard. It would be a big plus for a team that already has a lot of talent in terms of the running game but could be more consistent in this area with better play from the men up front. The 6-3, 306-pound prospect is certainly a player to keep an eye on this summer.
