The New York Jets are a young team, and there will be quite a few young players making an impact in 2018.

Young players make impacts regularly in the NFL, but for those under 25 it’s tough because it’s relatively new for them, but some do have experience or come in with high expectations. According to the team page on Pro Football Reference, the New York Jets officially have 19 players under the age of 25, so there are plenty of player to choose from.

The 2018 NFL Draft has produced some good players for Jets fans to look forward to seeing in the green and white. However, there are still players from previous draft that are younger than 25 that will make an impact in 2018.

Let’s take a look at those players.

5. Parry Nickerson, CB (Sixth Round, 2018 NFL Draft)

At 5-10, 182 pounds, Nickerson is a little undersized to play outside. That said, he’s a tough corner with skills to play the ball, and good in press coverage and man-to-man. The Jets need a new slot corner, and not because their current slot corner isn’t a good coverage guy. Buster Skrine commits too many penalties and they negate the good he does.

Over the past three seasons, he’s led the team in penalties and penalty yards. In 2017, he had the eighth-most penalties and ninth-most penalty yards in the NFL. It’s time for someone new to man the slot, and Nickerson is the guy. With his ball skills and tough play, he will not only stop receivers from getting the ball, but get the ball back for the Jets too.
