New York Jets: Top 5 offseason additions, post 2018 NFL Draft
It’s been a busy few months for all 32 teams. With the 2018 NFL Draft in the rear view mirror, what five acquisitions stand out for the New York Jets?
Remember when Rex Ryan took over the New York Jets in 2009 and the team made USC quarterback Mark Sanchez the fifth overall pick in the draft? The brash sideline leader appeared obsessed with the team in Foxborough and with good reason. But to Ryan’s credit, the team would reach the playoffs in each of his first two seasons and appear in two consecutive AFC title games.
That was the good news. The bad news is that the Green and White hasn’t reached the postseason party since. Seven consecutive seasons have added up to a lot of futility for a franchise that made its lone Super Bowl appearance in 1968.
Do the math and that means the organization will be “celebrating” the 50th anniversary of their stunning upset of the then-Baltimore Colts at Miami’s Orange Bowl.
These days, general manager Mike Maccagnan and head coach Todd Bowles are coming off back-to-back 5-11 showings. This after their debut season in 2015 when the Jets just missed the playoffs with a 10-6 record. As usual, there’s always hope during the offseason. So which five players did the team add over the last few months which will prove to have a major impact?
