The Arizona Cardinals expected Sam Bradford to be the starting quarterback, but it looks like the competition is heating up thanks to Josh Rosen.

Sam Bradford signed with the Arizona Cardinals to be the starting quarterback. Mike Glennon signed in hopes of becoming the Cardinals signal caller. Josh Rosen has news for both Bradford and Glennon.

Rosen was the tenth overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. Arizona moved up via trade to select Rosen. Rosen did not like that he dropped in the draft from possibly being taken as first overall. How has he responded?

Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com reported on head coach Steve Wilks’ comments about his rookie quarterback:

"“This guy is extremely smart,” Wilks said. “I mean, his ability to see certain things from the defense, and pick it up quickly, and execute … he has the mindset of a vet. The way he sees the game. He’s not playing like a vet. Make sure you guys understand that. He’s still a rookie, OK? But he sees things, like I said before, through a different lens. And he picks it up quickly.”"

Currently, Arizona has four quarterbacks on their roster. Bradford, Rosen and Glennon are figured to battle for the top two spots. Chad Kanoff is the fourth quarterback, but will almost surely be cut after training camp.

Kanoff played college football at Princeton. He signed with Arizona as an undrafted rookie. Jason Garrett, the Dallas Cowboys head coach, played eight years in the NFL. Garrett played at Princeton and was undrafted.

Glennon is with his third team in three years. He has underwhelmed in his prior NFL stops. Glennon will probably spend his career as a backup.

Bradford has trouble staying on the field due to injuries. Since 2010, he has missed 48 games while playing in 80. He missed the 2014 season and played in two games in 2017. Bradford is the most experienced quarterback but is the most fragile. Although he is currently the starter going into training camp, there is no guarantee that he emerges as the clear cut starter.

Expect the competition to heat up immensely as the preseason schedule nears. Maybe, it has already begun to heat up in OTAs. Don’t count Rosen out, just yet!
