Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Competing with Moore for a roster spot is Marquez Valdes-Scantling from South Florida. The  former Bull shares similar traits to Raiders wide receiverMartavis Bryant. Valdes-Scantling is a 6-4, 206-pound speedster with 4.37 speed who specialized in stretching the field. Nevertheless, there are some things that he needs to work on.

For example, like with most tall receivers, he doesn’t have the ability to sink his hips. Consequently, this has negatively impacted his route running. In the end, his payoff could be huge once he fixes those things. Valdes-Scantling has long arms and solid timing that will help him win 50-50 balls. According to a former NFL Pro Bowl WR, Valdes-Scantling’s shortcomings are correctable with coaching (per NFL.com):

"“His issues look coachable to me. You don’t know what he was being taught, but he’s big and can run so you take that and then just get those routes right.”"

There’s a huge battle at the wide receiver spot and because of his ability to stretch the field, there’s a chance he could climb up the depth chart. At the very least, Valdes-Scantling could become a guy who will force the Green Bay coaching staff to find creative ways to get him the ball downfield.
