Green Bay Packers: Top 5 offseason additions, post 2018 NFL Draft
2. Jimmy Graham, TE (from Seattle Seahawks)
When healthy, we have seen what tight end Jimmy Graham can do for a team’s offense. In his first five seasons in the league with the New Orleans Saints, he put up impressive numbers and that would be an understatement. He was often in the conversation with New England Patriots perennial Pro Bowler Rob Gronkowski in terms of the best tight end in the NFL.
His days in the Big Easy included 386 receptions for 4,752 yards and an impressive 51 touchdowns. And he also earned three Bowl Pro Bowl invitations while with Drew Brees and company. In 2015, he was dealt to the Seattle Seahawks. After a sluggish first year in the Pacific Northwest which saw his season cut short by a knee injury, Graham slowly began showing that Pro Bowl form once again.
In 2016, he totaled 65 catches for 923 yards and touchdowns. This past season, he was even better when it came to finding the end zone, racking up 57 grabs for 520 yards and 10 scores. However, the Seahawks opted to let him test free agency and the Green Bay Packers were more than willing to scoop up the prize.
Once Graham and Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers develop a little rapport, he could slowly but surely become the star signal-caller’s favorite target. Yes, wide receivers Davante Adams and Randall Cobb are very much in the mix there as well. But the five-time Pro Bowl tight end could be Green Bay’s best player at the position since the days of Jermichael Finley.
