1. Muhammad Wilkerson, DE (from New York Jets)

There are a lot of reasons that defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson is perhaps the Green Bay Packers’ best offseason addition in 2018. And it’s not just not the fact that Mike McCarthy’s team needs a lot of help on the defensive side of the ball.

It certainly helps that Wilkerson is one of the premier players at his position in the league and has the resume to back that up. And the fact that the seven-year pro is more than familiar with new coordinator Mike Pettine system means an added bonus for a three-man defensive front that needs to be more productive this upcoming season.

Wilkerson, the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, played for under Pettine for two seasons while the latter was Rex Ryan’s defensive coordinator from 2009-12. The former Temple University product racked up 44.5 sacks with the Jets, as well as forcing 11 fumbles. The 6-4, 315-pound pro also batted down a total of 28 passes and managed a pair of interceptions.

Teamed with six-year defensive tackle Mike Daniels and young nose tackle Kenny Clark, things are looking up for a defense that finished 22nd in the NFL in total yards allowed per game in 2017. And Wilkerson should also help the Packers improved on ranking 17th in the league against the run this past season.
