While the Chicago Bears’ history with wide receivers isn’t great, here are the ten best who wore the navy and orange Bears jersey.

I am starting out a series to name the best Chicago Bears players at every position. First up, the wide receiver corps. Yes, I know the Bears have a bad history with wide receivers (maybe because of their bad history with quarterbacks as well). However, I will list the 10 best of those who played for Chicago.

As I mentioned, the Bears haven’t had many wide receivers who made a big impact. There are a variety of reasons for that — bad quarterback play, bad coaching, inability to keep receivers for an extended period of time. When your top two team leaders in receptions are running backs (Walter Payton and Matt Forte), you know you have a problem.

There have been some good receivers, though. They came to Chicago, burned like a flame, then disappeared. Fans remember those players’ time with the Bears fondly and wonder “what if” with a lot of them.

The 2018 wide receivers corps brings high hopes for Bears fans. The front office made a splash, signing Allen Robinson, a player many considered the best receiver in free agency. That’s something the Bears aren’t known for — they’ll sign top defensive players (Julius Peppers, for example), but usually settle for second-tier receivers. Additionally, they signed Taylor Gabriel and drafted Anthony Miller in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

We have to see what Robinson and company do on the field. We can say what we want on paper but what happens when the games start is what’s important.

For now, let’s take a look at the top 10 Chicago Bears wide receivers of all time:
