NFL 2018: 20 Running backs with best chance at 2,000 yards rushing
By Dan Parzych
9. Devonta Freeman
When seeing how he’s rushed for 30 touchdowns over the last two seasons, the Atlanta Falcons seem to have struck gold with Devonta Freeman at running back, and making sure he would be around for years to come was an easy decision by the organization. Believe it or not, it’s become quite common in the NFL to see teams benefit from using multiple running backs as much as possible, and it’s amazing to see Freeman still put up high numbers while teaming up with Tevin Coleman, who has proven to be a workhorse as well.
In a way, the argument can be made that Freeman’s numbers would be much higher if Coleman wasn’t part of the picture, but also this is one of the reasons why Atlanta’s offense has seen so much success. Even though the unit took a step back last season while adjusting to functioning without Kyle Shanahan calling the shots, the Falcons are expected to have one of the most dangerous offenses in 2018, especially if Freeman continues to play at a high level.
Most teams would love to have themselves a touchdown machine like Freeman that can bulldoze his way into the end zone with ease. For a former fourth-round pick, Atlanta has to be pleased with their decision from 2014 to land one of the biggest steals from the draft.
