8. Saquon Barkley

As frustrating as it was to see the New York Giants have a horrendous season in 2017 by winning just three games, at least when looking at the overall picture for the future, it helped them address a major need at running back with Saquon Barkley. Even though the Giants easily could have focused on selecting a successor to Eli Manning at quarterback, passing on the former Penn State star most likely would have come back to haunt the team since there’s a reason why so many teams were high on Barkley heading into the draft.

Barkley is one of those talented running backs that can be used in multiple ways on offense along with special teams, and if the last few years are any indication of what to expect, the New York rookie should have an immediate impact on offense. Keep in mind how successful other former first-round running backs like Elliott and Leonard Fournette were right away on their new teams, as Barkley should be able to accomplish the same as a member of the Giants.

Just like with Guice, the chances of a running back rushing for 2,000 yards during their first season may sound like a long shot, but also if there were one rookie to choose, Barkley would seem like the best choice. Assuming all goes according to plan, Barkley is going to be a great fit on offense for the Giants, and quickly work his way to becoming a top running back in the NFL.
