NFL 2018: 20 Running backs with best chance at 2,000 yards rushing
By Dan Parzych
6. Melvin Gordon
Remember all of the concern surrounding Melvin Gordon back in 2015 when he failed to find the end zone even once as a rookie? Two years later, Gordon has established himself as one of the top running backs in the league after finding the end zone 24 times (six receiving) since 2016, and this seems like only the beginning of what should be a promising career.
Gordon deserves all of the credit in the world for bouncing back after that struggling rookie season, and the Los Angeles Chargers have to be thrilled over the fact that any concerns have quickly gone out the window. When taking a closer look at his numbers, Gordon continues to improve each season with experience, and is coming off a strong 2017 campaign in which he finished with 1,581 yards from the line of scrimmage, with 1,105 of those yards coming as a rusher.
Philip Rivers is at a point in his career where the veteran realizes the gap for winning a Super Bowl is closing in, and if the Chargers are going to have any chance of making a run, Gordon will need to continue being on top of his game. When looking at the progress he’s made each season, it doesn’t look like Los Angeles will have to worry about this when it comes to Gordon.
