NFL 2018: 20 Running backs with best chance at 2,000 yards rushing
By Dan Parzych
4. Leonard Fournette
During the 2017 NFL Draft, many questioned the decision by the Jacksonville Jaguars to select Leonard Fournette at No. 4 since some doubters believed he would struggle to make the adjustment from playing in college to the NFL. Turns out, the selection of Fournette was the best choice for the Jaguars when looking at the impact he made as a rookie after rushing for 1,040 yards with nine touchdowns in 13 games.
Not to mention, while the defense received a majority of the credit for Jacksonville finally earning a trip to the playoffs last season, Fournette was one of the main highlights on the offensive side of the football. Helping take some of that unnecessary pressure off Blake Bortles was a huge relief for the Jaguars quarterback under center, and after seeing the team fall just short of earning a trip to the Super Bowl, Fournette will be playing with an extra chip on his shoulder during his sophomore campaign.
Just like some of the other running backs on this list, workhorse is the perfect way to describe Fournette when looking at the high amount of carries he’s capable of handling on a weekly basis. All things considered, don’t be surprised if Fournette’s production skyrockets on offense for Jacksonville heading into year two of his NFL career.
