20. Derrius Guice

Heading into the 2018 NFL Draft, LSU’s Derrius Guice was considered by many the second best running back from this year’s class behind Saquon Barkley when looking at the impact made over the years with the Tigers. The fact that Guice rushed for 26 touchdowns during his final two years at LSU show why he was considered a top running back in April, but unfortunately there were some concerns when it came to his maturity.

As a result, Guice ended up falling to the second, and the Washington Redskins felt he would be worth taking the risk on at No. 59 to help fill their need at running back. From Washington’s perspective, the selection of Guice could end up being a huge steal if the rookie lives up to the potential, and ends up making an impact right from the start once Week 1 rolls around.

When looking at how tough the NFC East is shaping out to be along with the fact that the offense is adjusting to life without Kirk Cousins, the Redskins are going to need all of the help they can get. On a positive note, at least Washington’s new quarterback Alex Smith can help guide the way for Guice during his rookie campaign while hopefully working on some of those maturity issues.
