Football fans concerned over Elliott’s production being down during his sophomore NFL season also have to take into consideration all of the issues the running back had to deal with, ranging from changes to the offensive line to all of the uncertainty surrounding his suspension. When Elliott isn’t distracted, the Cowboys running back has proven to be an absolute nightmare for any opponent standing in his way, and after seeing the team in general take a step back in 2017 by missing out on the playoffs, don’t expect that to happen again next season.

After spending an offseason clearing his head while preparing for 2018, there’s a good chance that Elliott will come through with the best year of his NFL career, and put Dallas in great position to get back into the playoff mix. Two years ago as a rookie, Elliott exploded onto the scene as a top running back in the NFL, and when looking at the high level of production he’s expected to receive, the sky appears to be the limit for 2018.

Also, let’s not forget this is the same player that finished his rookie season with 1,631 rushing yards in 15 games, which is why Elliott deserves to be the early favorite to hit 2,000 rushing yards in 2018 when compared to other running backs across the league. If Elliott lives up to the hype, the Cowboys could return to the level of being a top contender in the NFC, even if Bryant is no longer in the picture.
