NFL 2018: 20 Running backs with best chance at 2,000 yards rushing
By Dan Parzych
15. Dalvin Cook
Last year, the Minnesota Vikings felt confident they received a steal in the draft by selecting former Florida State running back Dalvin Cook, and all signs pointed to that being the case when looking at how quickly he made an impact on offense. Unfortunately, Cook’s rookie season would only last four games after he suffered a torn ACL during a Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Losing Cook when they did was a crushing blow for the Vikings when considering he had already rushed for 354 yards with two touchdowns, but at least the team was still able to reach the NFC Championship before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles. As frustrating as falling short of the Super Bowl was for Minnesota, just imagine how dangerous this offense is going to be with a healthy Cook back in the picture to help take some of the pressure off Cousins under center.
On paper, the Vikings’ offense was already expected to be one of the most dangerous units in 2018, and Cook’s presence will cause even more problems for opposing defenses. Minnesota is already considered one of the early favorites to make a Super Bowl run in the NFC, and while the offense is loaded with enough talent outside of Cook to make it happen, the running back could still end up being a huge difference maker.
