The preparation for the 2018 season continues for all 32 NFL clubs. So what five additions stand out for the defending AFC champion New England Patriots?

It is safe to say that the NFL’s reigning dynasty has endured a few bumpy few months. Going back to a controversy article which pointed out some possible issues between the three main components when it comes to New England Patriots was just a start of some reported unrest with the five-time Super Bowl champions.

Was there indeed an issue when the team opted to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers last midseason? What was the real reason head coach Bill Belichick in essence benched cornerback Malcolm Butler on Super Sunday in an eventual 41-33 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles? Are Belichick and ageless signal-caller Tom Brady not seeing eye-to-eye these days?

Those are all interesting questions. But while some are forecasting the Patriots to fall apart, their historic run continues. This offseason, standout players such as Butler, running back Dion Lewis, wide receiver Danny Amendola and sturdy left tackle Nate Solder all opted to sign elsewhere.

Those are big losses, no doubt. But during this dynastic run, there have been plenty of departures and the winning continues. New England seeks a 10th straight postseason appearance in 2018, which would be an NFL first. And what five additions to the team figure to help this club be better this fall?
