The preparation for the 2018 season continues for all 32 NFL clubs. Which five additions stand out for the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles?

The last time we saw a team win back-to-back NFL championships was 2003-04, when the New England Patriots came up with a pair of three-point wins over the Carolina Panthers (32-29) and Philadelphia Eagles (24-21) in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX, respectively. Now Doug Pederson’s Birds will attempt to turn the trick in 2018 after knocking off the Pats in Minneapolis (LII) in February.

It’s also worth noting that twice in the past four seasons a club reached the Big Game with a chance to capture back-to-back Lombardi Trophies. The Seattle Seahawks came up short in 2014 (XLIX) against the Patriots and this past year, we saw what happened to New England against Pederson and company.

What’s the point? It’s tough to repeat in this league. But it will be interesting to see what this Philadelphia club will look like on opening night against the visiting Atlanta Falcons on September 6? The Eagles won on Super Sunday without their starting quarterback (Carson Wentz), left tackle (Jason Peters) and middle linebacker (Jordan Hicks).

Meanwhile, thanks to free agency and trades, this is already a different looking roster from top to bottom. So what five newcomers to the City of Brotherly Love will prove to be general manager Howie Roseman’s best additions this offseason?
