3. Haloti Ngata, DT (from Detroit Lions)

This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with defensive end Vinny Curry after trying to trade the pass-rushing threat. They also watched four-year defensive tackle Beau Allen sign on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A seventh-round pick in 2014, he missed only one game in four seasons and made eight starts. He provided crucial depth on a defensive front that coordinator Jim Schwartz has built into quite a force. Ironically enough, both Allen and Curry are teammates once again as the later also joined the Bucs.

Veteran Haloti Ngata has enjoyed quite a career since being the 12th overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2006 NFL Draft. A mainstay on the club’s defensive front for nine seasons, he earned five consecutive Pro Bowl invitations from 2009-13 (under head coach John Harbaugh) and was part of the club’s Super Bowl XLVII championship squad in 2012.

The veteran defender was traded to the Detroit Lions in 2015 and spent three seasons in the Motor City. But this past year saw the 34-year-old pro limited to only five games. In 12 NFL campaigns, Ngata has totaled 31.5 sacks and knocked down 39 passes. He’s also forced six fumbles, managed five fumble recoveries and also has five career interceptions. Now he brings his skills to Philadelphia and should prove to be quite the mentor to some of the team’s younger defensive linemen.
