Will the Seattle Seahawks’ decision to part ways with one of their more outspoken performers prove to be a big addition for the defending Super Bowl champions? Pete Carroll’s team opted to deal veteran defensive end Michael Bennett and a 2018 seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for wide receiver Marcus Johnson and a fifth-round choice in 2018.

The often-controversial defender has certainly had his moments both on and off the field. Now keep in mind this is a Philadelphia defense that excelled in the fourth quarter in the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots. Thanks to coordinator Jim Schwartz’s designs and an abundance of depth in the trenches on this side of the ball, the Birds’ pass-rush came up big in the fourth quarter against Tom Brady when it was needed most.

This offseason, the Eagles decided to release defensive end Vinny Curry while four-year pro Beau Allen signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That left the club a little thin thinner on the defensive front. There’s already been that the mention of veteran Haloti Ngata. Now Bennett brings his 54.5 career sacks (8.5 in 2017) to the City of Brotherly Love. Could the Eagles top their total of 38 QB traps during their championship campaign of 2017?
