The preparation for the 2018 season continues for all 32 NFL clubs. So what five additions stand out for Mike Zimmer’s Minnesota Vikings?

It’s a franchise that made four Super Bowl appearances in an eight-year span from 1969-76. But it’s a team that hasn’t been back to the “Big Game” since. And because those great Minnesota Vikings’ squads fell victim to some of the greatest team in NFL annals, the Purple Gang still doesn’t own a Lombardi Trophy.

But that could certainly change this upcoming season. The Vikings spent big money on a quality quarterback to complement a solid running game and a top-notch defense. General manager Rick Spielman has done an excellent job building this club and Mike Zimmer (entering his fifth year at the helm) is one of the best head coaches in the business. The team spent wisely in free agency and once again made the most of the draft process.

The Vikings enter 2018 as one of the favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIII. But if Zimmer’s club is to make the trip to Atlanta in early February, they will have to fend off a lot of good teams in the conference. So what five newcomers to the Twin Cities will prove to be Spielman’s best moves when it’s all said and done?
