5. Trevor Siemian, QB (from Denver Broncos)

From the successor to Peyton Manning to a player looking to jumpstart his career with a new team. In 2016, Trevor Siemian made 14 starts for the then-defending Super Bowl champions. The numbers were respectable but the offense was stagnant. A seventh-round draft choice by the Denver Broncos in 2015, he emerged as the unlikely starter in 2016. He finished that season by hitting on 59.5 percent of his throws, good for 3,401 yards, 18 scores and only 10 interceptions – as well as a pair of lost fumbles.

But things changed after a decent start this past season. After throwing a combined six touchdown passes (3 turnovers) in the first two weeks of 2017, Siemian struggled mightily. In his final nine overall outings, eight of those starts, the three-year signal-caller served up just six touchdown passes but threw twice as many interceptions (12) and lost a fumble. He finished a very disappointing season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Now he’s part of the Minnesota Vikings’ revamped quarterbacking corps thanks to a trade with the Broncos. A year ago, it was Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater — now all with different teams. Obviously Siemian doesn’t appear to pose any threat to the new starter in town. But he certainly must be ready to answer the call if need be. And the fact that he is an experienced quarterback makes him an ideal addition to Mike Zimmer’s club.
