The preparation for the 2018 season continues for all 32 NFL clubs. So what five additions stand out for the Carolina Panthers?

Is this the year that the Carolina Panthers finally pull off a franchise first? Yes, for the sake of the team, a Super Bowl title would be the best case scenario. And who’s to say that Ron Rivera’s club isn’t more than capable? But this is also a football team that first took the field in 1995 and still hasn’t posted consecutive winning seasons. It’s one of those odd statistics but it shows the up-and-down nature of the team – especially as of late.

After finishing 6-10 in 2016 (one year after going 15-1 and reaching the Super Bowl), the Panthers came up with an 11-5 mark. They tied the New Orleans Saints for the best record in the NFC South but were swept by Sean Payton’s team. Come the postseason, Carolina was eliminated by the Saints in the NFC wild card round.

Yes, the Panthers figure to once again be very much in the playoff picture this fall. This is a team that has reached the postseason four of the past five seasons. But when you lose a total of six games (including playoffs) and three are to the same team, changes have to be made.

So what five offseason additions to the club will prove to be the best for the unpredictable club by year’s end?
