Cleveland Browns: Best and worst-case scenarios for 2018 NFL Draft picks
By Backwoods
Third and Fourth Round Selections
Chad Thomas
In a formidable defensive line group, Thomas will not likely crack the starting lineup, even in a best-case scenario. What he hopefully will provide is quality depth and athleticism. Able to play all along the D-line, he offers great value in two-minute situations when the flow of the game does not allow for substitutions.
Although his best-case offers a wealth of options, his worst-case could be struggling to find time on the field. The selection of Thomas is based upon his upside, although proving his worth will not be easy.
Antonio Callaway
Callaway is the definition of a boom-or-bust selection for the Browns. Much like fellow wide receiver Josh Gordon, Callaway is likely to have either a very solid year, or find troubles off the field and find himself unemployed.
Callaway may prove a late-round gem as his physical abilities are impressive. I believe his well-reported off field issues were blown out of proportion and he may even find a role as the third wide receiver behind Gordon and Jarvis Landry.
He should also be in contention for duties as a kick and/or punt return specialist. I personally am excited to see the impact special-teams intern and the greatest return-man in Browns history, Josh Cribbs, will have on our young players.
Even with two top-five selections and a whirlwind of hype around Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward with those picks, I see Callaway potentially defining the the 2018 NFL Draft for the Cleveland Browns.
