2. Guice becoming a cult hero

Many expected Derrius Guice to be a first-round pick in April’s draft. For whatever reason, Guice fell to the second round and the Redskins pounced. Since being picked by Washington, Guice has gone out of his way to endear himself to the Redskins and their fans. Whether it’s paying for fans to go to the movies, hanging out with fans at Capitals’ games or going everywhere with a smile on his face, Guice is arguably the most popular Redskin right now.

Sounds crazy, huh?

Fans love Guice because of his talent, but in reality, they haven’t seen him play a game as a professional yet. It’s Guice’s personality that’s making him so beloved in the nation’s capital. If Guice can translate his practice habits and such to the field this fall, his jersey will become a big seller.

NBC Sports Washington’s J.P. Finlay released a video on Wednesday and it didn’t take long for it to become the talk of D.C.

Guice’s athleticism is real. He could give the Redskins their first legitimate running game since Gruden took over as coach in 2014. But, it’s probably a good time and stop and remember Guice is a rookie who has yet to take one snap in an NFL game.
