Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was disappointed his team didn’t draft a quarterback in 2018. With the owner unhappy and a franchise that’s currently missing that spark, Herbert could be the guy. The Dolphins are a team in limbo. They haven’t been good enough to be perennial playoff contenders for decades.

The Adam Gase era kicked off with a playoff run. However, after a terrible sophomore season, the front office and Gase opted for a culture overhaul. That meant ridding themselves of some Pro Bowl players. With a revamped roster the Dolphins are leaning on veteran Ryan Tannehill.

Tannehill has been okay as the starter with 106 touchdowns to 66 interceptions and a completion rate north of 62 percent. An injury kept him out of the 2017 season. But if he doesn’t wow anyone this season, Fins could be looking for a new signal-caller. Whether it’s with Gase or a new staff, Herbert makes sense as Tannehill could serve as a bridge quarterback.

New England Patriots

There have been a lot of whispers coming out of New England. It’s unusual considering that the organization has a reputation for being tight-lipped. Nevertheless, one has to expect that the Patriots will be up to their winning ways yet again.

Still, they have to look for a successor to Tom Brady — something they neglected to address this past draft. As a matter of fact, Jimmy Garoppolo was once thought to be the heir-apparent, but he was traded away. Brady is an iron man, an all-time great, the G.O.A.T. — but he’s on borrowed time.

The Patriots need to get themselves a franchise quarterback for the futures. Whether it’s Josh McDaniels taking over as head coach or Bill Belichick trying to prove he can win without Brady, Herbert is a great fit. New England could build a defense around him while he develops.
