3. Sanu will toss, at least, two touchdown passes

For the casual NFL fan, one may not realize just how well Mohamed Sanu can toss the football around the yard. In his five-year NFL career, Sanu as a passer is an incredible 6-of-6, throwing for 228 yards and three touchdowns. I’m not saying that he’ll be taking over for Matt Ryan anytime soon, but if things don’t work out for Jameis Winston in Tampa Bay, they might want to give his agent a call.

More from Atlanta Falcons

All kidding aside, Sanu has the underrated ability to make a huge play through the air at any given moment. Just ask the Buccaneers.

We all knew Sanu was a player who could throw the ball well, but Kyle Shanahan never used him in that fashion when he was still in Atlanta. However, the fan-favorite, Steve Sarkisian, did call Sanu’s number once in 2017, and it turned out to be a great decision: 51-yard touchdown pass to Julio Jones.

If I were to guess, the Falcons will have a few more plays like this up their sleeve for 2018. Sanu has never thrown more than one touchdown in a season before, but that could drastically in a few short months.

When it does, we’ll be talking about a new gossip story in the Falcons locker room: the quarterback competition between Ryan and Sanu.
