The preparation for the 2018 season continues for all 32 NFL clubs. So what five additions stand out for Dan Quinn’s Atlanta Falcons?

While some may consider the Atlanta Falcons’ 2017 season a step backwards, it may actually have been more of a sign when it comes to the growth of Dan Quinn’s team. In three seasons as the head coach, the Falcons have gone from 8-8 (after opening 5-0 in 2015) to 11- 5 and a Super Bowl appearance one year later.

This past season, the club finished 10-6 and once again made an appearance in the playoffs. Keep in mind that this was a Falcons’ team that entered 2017 with two new coordinators in Steve Sarkisian (offense) and Marquand Manuel (defense).

The results were a third-place finish in the highly-competitive NFC South, where both the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers also made the playoffs. And it’s also worth noting that in a season in which the NFC went topsy-turvy, the Falcons were the only team in the conference to reach the postseason in 2016 and make a return appearance the following year.

This was a club that was not overly busy this offseason, be it free agency or the draft. It’s a team that apparently feels pretty good about its starting roster so there have only been a few tweaks. So which five additions by the Atlanta Falcons appear to be the best for the squad going forward?
