DE Charles Harris

The 2017 22nd-overall pick was eased into the lineup last season, but it’s now time for him to step up. The Dolphins can’t afford to swing and miss on another first round pass rusher. With Cameron Wake still great but now 36 years old, and Andre Branch’s strong 2016 now looking like a possible aberration, Harris is no longer a player for the future but an essential piece of the puzzle.

I wouldn’t say 2017 was a sign of disaster or future dominance for Harris. We have seen his athletic ability and if he can put it all together with a year under his belt, he can be the force the Dolphins need on the defensive line. We have to see it first though. Last season was a small sample size, with a limited glimpse of his full potential.

During his sophomore campaign it would be huge for this team if he could push double-digit sacks. A stat line of 30-plus tackles and about 8.5 sacks would be an ideal step this season and maybe he chips in on a few turnovers. With an aging Wake and less than favorable contract for Branch, Harris needs to not only be the present, but the future as well.
