Green Bay Packers: Ranking NFC North opponents for 2018
By Hunter Noll
Chicago Bears
The Bears have a new number one receiver in Allen Robinson and a new head coach in Matt Nagy. They also have a new offensive coordinator and special teams coach. Despite all this, they’re still easily the worst team in the division.
The Bears boast a pretty solid defense, and the addition of Roquan Smith was nice. The rookie out of Georgia should be a staple in the defense for years to come. He joins Danny Trevathan and a couple others at the linebacker position. The secondary has plenty of potential as well, and could grow even more in 2018. Personally, I’m a big fan of Adrian Amos.
That offense though…woof.
Mitchell Trubisky was up-and-down in his first season. The quarterback had one 300-yard passing game, and tossed three interceptions in it. Trubisky posted a completion percentage of 59.4 and had seven touchdowns compared to seven interceptions in 12 starts.
Robinson was a strong addition to the receiver corps. He had one reception last year due to injury though. There’s no telling how he’ll return. Behind him, the Bears have very little going for them at the position. Maybe this is the year Kevin White gets healthy. If he does, that’s a big get right there.
The running backs are superb though. Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard have a chance to be one of the best tandems in football. If Trubisky’s struggles continue though, defense’s will be able to complete zero-in on the running game.
Overall, the defense is solid, and could improve even more. They aren’t nearly good enough to make up for an offense that has very little going for it though.
