The New York Jets will win the AFC East in 2018 and finally end the stranglehold the New England Patriots have had since 2001.

The New England Patriots have won nine straight AFC East titles and 15 of 17 in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick Era. That means it must be crazy to think someone else will win in 2018, right?

Actually, the AFC East is ripe for the taking and the New York Jets have the right team to do it.

Let’s examine the reasons.

3. Tom Brady

The friction on the Patriots is well-documented throughout this offseason, and it stems from their Super Bowl loss to the Eagles. However, it goes much deeper than that.

Brady has been a loyal soldier for his entire career, but there’s a difference this year. That “Tom vs. Time” documentary gave us a glimpse into Brady, but more than we think.

Brady knows that Father Time is undefeated, and he wants to keep playing. He senses the mortality of his career approaching, and he knows that it won’t be a slow process. The end will come and it will hit him like a ton of bricks.

For the first time in a long time Brady missed the offseason workouts. It’s a sign he’s finally off the “do everything for the team” bandwagon, and he’s finally thinking of No. 1 (or in this case No. 12). This will cause some tension between the team and coach and take them down from within.
