The preparation for the 2018 season continues for all 32 NFL clubs. So what five additions stand out for the defending AFC West champion Kansas City Chiefs?
The 2017 season began well for the Kansas City Chiefs. Winners of their first five games, including an impressive 42-27 conquest of the New England Patriots in Week 1, Andy Reid’s team looked like a Super Bowl contender once again. And down the stretch, a season-ending four-game winning streak propelled the club to a second straight division title.
But in between, there was a 1-6 stretch that included a four-game losing streak prior to the club’s strong finish. And all of those issues appeared forgotten when Reid’s team opened up a 21-3 halftime lead at home against the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Wild Card Playoffs. But the Chiefs squandered their advantage and it was another early playoff exit for the team.
On the New England Patriots (9) and Pittsburgh Steelers (4) have currently been in the playoffs more consecutive seasons than the Kansas City Chiefs. Under Reid, the club has reached the postseason four of the past five years and have won the AFC West each of the past two seasons. But that hasn’t amounted to much when it comes to NFL championships.
So if this team is to make an impact in the playoffs, they must be much-improved in all aspects. And here are the team’s top five offseason additions that could lead to bigger and better things in 2018.
