The Dallas Cowboys defense is shaping up to be a good one. But the defensive tackle position has a lot of questions, and it’s time to rethink things.

The Dallas Cowboys have high hopes this season as a myriad of changes on offense and defense have set them up for a potential title run. But let’s be honest, with that offensive line and Ezekiel Elliott, they will be in the mix for years to come.

The key to a potential title run in 2018 will be the play of the defense. The defense is going through a rebuilding phase in which veterans are being phased out in favor of younger players. The veterans that remain are there to provide leadership and hold the place until the younger players are ready.

This is most evident in the defensive secondary. The secondary is comprised of three second year players and a couple of veterans to guide them along. The linebacker room boasts Sean Lee and a host of younger players which the Cowboys are hoping can develop into solid contributors during the season.

But one area that has not been addressed significantly is the defensive line. Defensive end has a good mix of veteran leadership and promising young talent. But defensive tackle remains a spot where injuries and suspensions have taken their toll. But the Cowboys seem content to play the wait-and-see game.

The Cowboys need to start over at defensive tackle if they want to keep up with the direction the NFL is headed. But what direction should they take?
