Most concur that the NFL Top 100 list was terrible. Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was another stud short changed by this abomination.
Any awfulness about the NFL that you can find has apparently leaked into the NFL Top 100 list. The Miami Dolphins have just one player on the list, which is Cameron Wake at No. 74. The issue is, Wake isn’t even the best player on the roster currently. With no disrespect to the stud pass rusher, he’s no longer on the level of their Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones.
You can make an extremely strong case that Jones has been the best safety in the NFL over the past three years and he has definitely been the most productive. While many players don’t often get their due league-wide, this is an egregious injustice.
I have repeatedly spoken about my disdain for the disrespect Jones endures around the league. This started in 2015 when Jones was the best safety in the league both on film and by far statistically. Granted, we know the Pro Bowl is a complete joke, but he wasn’t even elected to the game before alternates were added because no one wants to play in that sham of an All Star game.
Not only should he have been first team All-Pro, but you could make a strong case that he should have been in the running for Defensive Player of the Year. While his film speaks for itself, his numbers do not lie either and blew All-Pro players like Eric Berry, Earl Thomas, Reggie Nelson and Charles Woodson out of the water. Jones amassed 135 tackles, two sacks, one fumble recovery, five interceptions, 10 pass defenses and two touchdowns. Those are eye-popping numbers for a safety and he went completely overlooked.
The stud safety has continued his incredible production. In just six games in 2016 before tearing his rotator cuff on an outstanding interception of Ben Roethlisberger, he already piled up 51 tackles, 0.5 sacks and a pick. Last year, Jones was healthy and back to his old ways of lighting up the stat sheet and the opposition.

In 2017, he piled up 122 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions. There is no way on earth you can watch this guy and say he’s not a top-100 player in this league.
The one thing Dolphins fans can take solace in here is the fact that they have this guy locked up on their defense for years to come and be thrilled to have one of the elite defenders in the league on this team.
