1. Drastically improved coaching

Watching John Fox coach the Bears was quite tiresome for the past few years, but perhaps none more so than the 2017 campaign. Not only did he stubbornly stick with Mike Glennon despite the stark lack of success that was obviously going to come from that, but he may as well have kept with him with how little trust he put in Trubisky once the then-rookie was named the starter.

Fox’s conservative stylings and lack of creativity are met in stark contrast by new head coach Matt Nagy. Throughout his time as offensive coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs, we saw Nagy take an offense and push it to its limits. Remember when Alex Smith was actually making explosive plays at points last season? A great deal of that credit belongs to the designs of Nagy in the offense.

Now Nagy is coming into a situation where he has a highly talented young quarterback and the aforementioned group of explosive weapons to work with. Bears fans should be salivating at what the new head coach can do with the likes of Tarik Cohen and Allen Robinson and how that could transform the offense.

Yes, we know that this is Nagy’s first head coaching gig, but all signs point to the fact that his stylings are more suited to the talent that Chicago currently has in place on offense. And even with the uncertainty, perhaps just the shake-up with the coaching staff and instituting any kind of change is exactly what the Bears need to make a leap.
