Green Bay Packers: Who makes team’s Mount Rushmore?
Brett Favre, Quarterback (1992-2007)
Brett Favre symbolized the Green Bay Packers resurrection in the 1990ss. Along with Reggie White and Mike Holmgren, the team returned to greatness. Between 1968-93, the Packers played in just three playoff games. Two of which came in a strike-shortened 1982 season. It’s fairly obvious to say the organization as a whole struggled.
No one wanted to play for the Green Bay Packers.
However, that all changed when Ron Wolf made the gutsy call to trade for the kid from Kiln, MS. Favre was the face of the Packers franchise for 15 seasons. He was the Packers through and through. While he only brought one Lombardi Trophy to the franchise, Farve was a part of so many memorable moments over the years.
Favre gave his soul to the Green Bay Packers. Despite his father’s death a day before a huge game in the 2003 season, he was out there and put on a masterful performance. The image of him celebrating after throwing a touchdown in Super Bowl XXXI symbolized his career with the Packers, exciting.
Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback (2005-Present)
Aaron Rodgers had the toughest task any quarterback has had to date. He had to step in after longtime quarterback, Brett Favre, left town. No one wanted to know what life would be like after Favre. Would the team go back into mediocrity?
Expectations were high for the young stud from California. It’s safe to say, 10 years later, Rodgers has exceeded expectations. Despite some of the Lambeau Field crowd booing him before his first start as Green Bay Packers quarterback in 2008, Rodgers brought another championship to Titletown.

When it’s all said and done, Rodgers will likely break all of Brett Favre’s passing stats (except for interceptions.) However, the reason he makes the Packers’ Mount Rushmore because he was able to thrive given his situation. Many quarterbacks would have struggled, Rodgers overcame the obstacles. He’s now widely recognized as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, and for good reason.
