Seattle Seahawks: Predicting 5 most surprising roster cuts of 2018
The Seattle Seahawks will be faced with some difficult decisions when training camp ends and the 53-man roster must be set. The names on this list won’t like what’s in store for them.
Final roster cuts in the NFL is a difficult time for both players and teams. As is the case for the Seattle Seahawks, the front office and coaching staff must have the difficult conversations with players, who are left to pick up the pieces of their broken dreams.
During this process, tough decisions must be made. Notable names are asked to turn in their playbooks. It’s the fact of life in the NFL — at least 95 percent of jobs aren’t secure. Apart from the league’s truly elite talent, most players spend all of training camp with their heads on a swivel, hoping their competition doesn’t run them over.
The Seahawks are no exception. As we eagerly await the start of training camp, it’s easy to imagine a number of noteworthy names failing to make the final roster. Even with the mass exodus of talent this offseason, there’s still plenty of upside and not enough room to keep it all.
In hopes of providing you with some clarity before the fun begins on July 26, I wanted to call out a few of the candidates to earn one of those surprise trips to the chopping block when training camp ends. Actually, if I’m being honest, I don’t think any of them is going to survive with their roster spot intact.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at five Seahawks I’m predicting will be surprise cuts during 2018 training camp. Some wouldn’t be quite as surprising as others, but we can certainly say we wouldn’t have expected them all to be in this situation a season ago.
