The Dallas Cowboys have made some smart choices in the NFL Draft in recent years, and here are the top five draft choices they have on the 2018 roster.
A lot can be said in a positive and even negative way about the decision-making and draft choices of the Dallas Cowboys in recent years, but one thing to ponder is the fact they’ve drafted well for the most part in terms of talent on their roster through the draft.
The Cowboys have hit the lottery with some of their Day 3 choices, and even some recent first-round selections players like Zack Martin, Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick have proven to be very valuable in the rebirth of a strong and dominate offensive line.
This past draft, the Cowboys selected Leighton Vander Esch, a strong side linebacker from Boise State, in the first round. Though the potential is there for Vander Esch to be a starter in Week 1 this upcoming season when the Cowboys face the Carolina Panthers on the road, he can’t be considered for this list.
On the other hand, any player currently on the roster of the Cowboys is eligible to be on the Top 5 draft picks because there are more than just first-round selections who have helped bolster the roster of the Cowboys, who just two seasons ago were the NFC East champions and a couple plays away from playing in the NFC Championship.
Granted, this list would most likely look 10 different ways if done by 10 other people, but with the vision the Cowboys currently have – which should be running the football and relying on a hopefully improved defense in 2018 – the list of the Top 5 Draft Choices on the 2018 roster could be slanted in that direction.
Here are those Top 5 players, as the preseason is a month or so away as the Cowboys are set to report to training camp on July 25 in Oxnard, Calif.
