Although every team in the league could always use more help when it comes to pressuring opposing quarterbacks, it is certainly not a dire need when it comes to the Los Angeles Chargers. Defensive ends Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram make up one of the premier pass-rushing combos in the entire NFL. In two seasons and a total of 28 regular-season games, the former Ohio State Buckeye has corralled enemy signal-callers a combined 23 times. Meanwhile, Ingram hasn’t been too shabby himself, especially the past three season. There have been 48 starts, 29 sacks and nine forced fumbles.

This past year, Bosa (12.5) and Ingram (10.5) teamed for 23 of the Chargers’ 43 quarterback traps. So the second-round selection of Uchenna Nwosu was about adding developmental depth to this area. He emerged after a slow start and really came on during his final two seasons with the Trojans. Nwosu could also possibly wind up helping the club when it comes to stopping the run (31st in NFL in 2017) considering he has the size (6-2, 251 pounds) and the obvious athleticism to excel in this regards.

The young defender totaled a combined 19 sacks and 18 passes defensed during his final two collegiate campaigns. It will be interesting to see what the final product will be when it comes to this intriguing prospect.
