2. Christian Kirk, WR, Arizona Cardinals

The slot receiver position is too often undervalued. And it’s that sort of disrespect that plagues the position when it’s time for contracts. They get treated like a bench player despite the importance they serve to a team. Players like Jarvis Landry, Davante Adams and even the all-time great Larry Fitzgerald have proved its importance. Still, even Madden devalues a player who excels at the position. If they do, why isn’t Kirk a top five player when 49ers’ Dante Pettis is with a 76 overall?

Christian Kirk’s film and stats reflect an ideal slot who can produce early. Kirk has received praises for being a good route runner, explosive, dangerous after the catch and possessing great hands. He translates immediately inside which makes him pro ready. Additionally, he’s 5-11, 201 pounds with a solid build and good speed (4.47-second 40), making him tough to bring down.

On tape, he beats defensive backs with quickness and power. Furthermore, he understands zone coverages and where to sit. He’ll catch the ball by any means necessary and usually wins 50-50 balls. The Cardinals will also benefit from his return ability. Kirk is too explosive and ready for the NFL not be ranked inside Madden 19‘s top five wide receivers.

1. James Washington, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

For starters, James Washington was arguably the best and most productive receiver in college football. It’s why he won the 2017 Biletnikoff Award winner. The former Oklahoma State wideout is unbelievably dangerous downfield. In fact, some say he’s the best.

Washington has solid bulk, similarly to a running back at 5-11, 213 pounds. He is a terror running after the catch and understands how to get open. He’s a versatile guy who played outside and inside and should thrive in Pittsburgh, a team with a history of getting production from young players at the position.
